I hate Southwestern Bell. I called to get a phone for our new apartment today and had to talk for 45min with the stupid saleslady, only about 7min of which was actual information being transferred back and forth. For the rest of the time, I had to listen to her spiel about why I absolutely needed all of this extra stuff on my phone line what would have made the monthly bill about $70. Why would anyone pay $70 a month for a phone line? Despite all my best efforts, I realized after I hung up that I had still gotten conned. The she had put “local plus” on it, which is only necessary at all because of the East Texas “local” calling racket. For those of you fortunate enough to live in a sane place that don’t know what I am taking about I will explain. Normally in E Texas, you can only call about 20 miles for a “local” call without paying extra for “special” access deals. I don’t see why the government allows it, it is clearly absurd. Just look at Houston, you can call over 3 area codes without long distance. Anyway, I found out that added $20 a month to the bill, so I will have to get it removed. I haven’t even started on DSL yet… Salespeople and phone companies are the scum of the earth, right above telemarketers and spammers. I look forward to the day when we will all buy everything over the internet, and use cell phones where there is no long distance. Hmmm, I don’t know how well this design is going to work for these entries. I think I will need to come up with something different for displaying them.
