Well, as of today, I am no longer an employee of ETBU. It was definately time to move on, and the new webmaster should be ok. ETBU is a very strange place, when it is good, it can be really good, but when it is bad it’s so bad it makes you ashamed they call it a Christian University.
Due to one of those rare good moments from the financial aid department, I have a lot more cash to work with this semester, so I got some much needed computer upgrades. As soon as I finish re-installing all my programs on the new hard drive I will update the system specs on the computers page.
Melissa came to visit this weekend and we had a really good time. I showed her how to use a dremel, and we made some interesting things:
I hacked together a solution so that the page looks correct in IE 5.x, even though is has a broken CSS box model. Now, it should look right in all browsers version 5 and up. If you have less than that, you really need to upgrade. All the good ones are free, there is no excuse :)

I have been adding things here and there to the site. I added a favicon.ico that is visible in the address bar if you are using mozilla or in the bookmarks if you are using IE. I’m not very good at making icons, but I think this one turned out pretty well. I am trying to update this thing more often, but it’s hard to remember that it is here after ignoring it for so long.
This will be the first post made with everything on the production server and DB, so hopefully this will work.
This is the first post that I am making with the new database driven scripts I wrote for the new design. Hopefully, I will be inclined to post more often now since it will be much easier to do. At least that’s the theory… School so far this semester has been easy. More tedious and annoying than anything. Big changes are coming at work, can’t really say more that that now.
It’s been a while since I last posted, I have just been really busy. School has started and I have way too much math homework. Melissa came up to visit last weekend and we had a really good time. I finally got sick of the extremely bloated ICQ client so I switched to Trillian. Even though it is fairly new, it’s pretty stable, and a whole lot faster than ICQ. It can also connect to AIM and MSN, which is useful for talking to people that don’t have ICQ, and as a backup for when ICQ goes weird. I had to modify a skin to suit my tastes since nobody ever seems to take usability into account when they make skins. I am happy with it now, and hopefully I won’t find any big problems.
